Why Is It Important to Choose a Strong Chinese Teacher for Learning Chinese?
Recently, we met a family whose 9-year-old daughter, Lera, had been studying Chinese for a little over a year 🇨🇳 But when we asked about her progress, her mother said:
“It feels like Lera forgets everything right after the lesson… She refuses to write characters. Maybe she just doesn’t have the ability?” 😔
We started asking who Lera’s teacher was and what their HSK level was. Then everything became clear.
❗ Why is a teacher’s level so important?
For beginners, it is especially important to build correct pronunciation and a strong foundation from the very first lesson.
But if the teacher is still learning the language themselves (HSK 3–4):
they cannot explain the logic of Chinese,
they cannot answer many questions,
and instead of explaining, they often say: “Just memorize it” 😣
As a result, the child never develops a full understanding of the language.
But Chinese is built on logic! 🤔 Without understanding, memorization becomes much harder.
📉 What happened with Lera?
Her teacher only had HSK 3.
And her parents never thought that this mattered.
The result: slow progress, low engagement, and the child starts believing they are “not capable.”
🎓 How do we choose teachers?
We do not hire teachers below HSK 5 — even for beginners.
Our teachers have:
✔️ HSK 5–6 (the highest levels)
✔️ Excellent pronunciation
✔️ At least 3 years of teaching experience
✔️ Relevant education
✔️ Multi-stage interviews
✔️ Test assignments
✔️ And they even go through a “test” with our young student reviewers 😊
We carefully monitor quality because we do not want children to:
🚫 get stuck at the same level
🚫 learn incorrect Chinese
🚫 face misunderstandings when speaking in China
Your job is to bring your child. Our job is to give them strong Chinese.
